Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Paolo Gentiloni participated in a meeting organised by the 18 the Arab League ambassadors, who also extended the invitation to the chairmen of the Foreign Affairs Commissions of the Chamber and Senate, the Hon. Chicchito and Sen. Casini.
The meeting foregrounded Italy’s and the Arab League’s common interest in forming a joint political and cultural front to counter Daesh-led terrorism. According to the proposal of the ambassadors attending the meeting, this common commitment could take the form of a cultural forum for the promotion of initiatives and activities in support of dialogue.
For his part, Minister Gentiloni took the opportunity to illustrate Italy’s position on the various Middle East crisis areas, reiterating the government’s firm intention to support the resumption of a peace process aimed at achieving a two-State solution.
