Directorate-General for Country Promotion

Name of the structure Directorate-General for Country Promotion
Competences The Directorate General for Country Promotion is responsible for the following tasks:
a) ensures, in agreement with the other competent Directorates General, including through the network of offices abroad, the overall coherence of the promotion, support, and enhancement of the country and all its components abroad;
b) promotes the dissemination of the Italian language, culture, science, technology, and creativity abroad, including through the coordination and management of the network of cultural institutes and scientific attachés and liaison with the bodies responsible for the Italian language and culture; it deals with cultural and scientific-technological issues in relation to international bodies and organizations;
c) promotes, while respecting the responsibilities of other State administrations and in agreement with them, including in relation to their respective reference bodies, the internationalization of the country system and manages relations with Italian businesses and their trade associations, as well as with the Regions and other local authorities regarding their activities abroad;
d) promotes and develops, in agreement with other competent government agencies, initiatives aimed at supporting the activities of Italian companies abroad and encouraging foreign investment in Italy;
e) participates in and coordinates with Italian law entities and organizations that perform tasks related to credit and foreign investment;
f) addresses issues within the jurisdiction of international organizations for economic and trade cooperation and those related to the protection of intellectual property;
g) adopts appropriate initiatives to facilitate the work of foreign faculty and researchers at Italian universities and research institutions, as well as the work of Italian faculty and researchers at foreign universities and research institutions;
h) manages the activities under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs relating to scholarships and youth exchanges;
h) promotes, in agreement with the competent public administrations, international and bilateral collaboration in the sports sector.
