International Lead and Zinc Study Group (ILZSG)

The International Lead and Zinc Study Group (ILZSG) was established within the United Nations in 1959, and became an independent intergovernmental organization in 1977.

Its main functions are:

– to promote transparency in lead and zinc markets through the provision of up-to-date, accurate and continuous information on supply and demand for lead and zinc and its possible developments;

– to facilitate cooperation between governments and industry through the organization of biannual meetings and regular special conferences and workshops.

– to conduct in-depth research on other issues of interest to members through the drafting of special reports and studies.

The ILZSG is one of the longest-standing international commodity organizations and has been the model for the creation of other similar organizations, such as the International Nickel Study Group (INSG) and the International Copper Study Group (ICSG).
