On 3 and 4 May the Trevi Group hosted a delegation of 55 Italian diplomatic at Cesena. Taking part in the study visit, organised in collaboration with the Foreign Ministry’s Diplomatic Institute, were participants in the “Carlo Sforza” training course for newly recruited diplomats at “second secretary” grade and still on probation. Participants also included second counsellors attending the refresher course for diplomats with over 10 years’ experience and who have served abroad.
Public-private sector synergy
The mission to Cesena was one of the Diplomatic Institute’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) initiatives designed to promote and establish strong relations between Foreign Ministry staff and the world of business. The aim is to achieve synergies between the public and private sectors to promote the Country System more effectively abroad and to encourage the internationalisation of Italy’s economic and financial fabric.
The visit programme was intensive and fruitful. It included introductory meetings and debates with senior figures from the Trevi Group and its companies, guided tours of the buildings and a meeting with the directors of the Cesena and Forlì Chamber of Commerce. The visit, which was a great success and met with mutual satisfaction, provided valuable training for Italian diplomats, who are increasingly engaged in supporting our companies abroad.
The collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Trevi Group is on-going. Indeed, the Ministry is actively engaged, through the Directorate General for Country Promotion and the network of Embassies and Consulates abroad, in supporting and promoting the interests of the Group in countries of priority interest and in obtaining useful information on opportunities in emerging markets.
