Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs Marta Dassù went to Lima as part of a cycle of missions to the Pacific Alliance countries of Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Peru. On her 10-11 December visit the Under-Secretary was accompanied by a large delegation of business and association representatives, making it possible to examine the potential opportunities offered by the Multi-Party Trade Accord, currently in the process of being approved, between the EU, Colombia and Peru.
“Peru, a country of opportunities”
The morning of the 10th the Under-Secretary opened the “Peru, a country of opportunities” forum: three panels attended by approximately 40 Italian firms, which had a chance to develop relations with approximately 90 local firms, as well as representatives of Confindustria, Ance and the national and regional Peruvian authorities. A second policy meeting on Tuesday 11 December examined the many existing areas for cooperation, and the foundation was laid for reinforcement of sectors involving the economy, university study and culture. Dassù, who also visited the Congress, then met with representatives of the Banco de Crédito del Perú, the country’s largest credit institution, with a view to developing useful contacts ahead of the eventual new Italian business presence in that Andean country.
