Safe Travelling: Terzi’s appeal for caution

“Caution and awareness are the best prevention” for those intending to travel, underscored Minister for Foreign Affairs Giulio Terzi in his customary message to Italians getting ready to travel for the Christmas holidays.

“Safe Travelling” and “Where we are in the world”

Terzi pointed out that the foreign ministry and its crisis unit were a “fundamental point of reference” on places lacking in “sufficient security conditions” and urged the use of the two websites “Viaggiare Securi”(Safe Travelling) and “Dove Siamo nel Mondo” (Where we are in the world): the first offers information and advisories on foreign countries, and the second allows travelers to register their whereabouts in order to facilitate intervention in the case of emergency. Viaggiare Securi, in particular, has a page created especially for companies, in collaboration with Selex.

Special caution in choosing places “considered at risk”

The minister then further stressed the use of the maximum caution in choosing destinations “considered at risk”, recalling the well known episodes during which the foreign ministry spent massive amounts of energy to rescue Italian nationals in danger abroad.
