Uganda: Building Energy to build photovoltaic plant in Tororo
The consortium made up of Milan-based Building Energy SPA and Uganda’s Simba Telecom has won the tender to build a photovoltaic plant in Tororo (near the Ruenzori mountains). The contract is part of the “Get Fit” programme promoted by the Electricity Regulatory Authority, which to date has approved 15 projects (hydroelectric, biomass, solar) for a total production of 128 MW. The programme is part-funded by the European Union and Germany’s KfW, with funding also from the Norwegian and British governments. Building Energy is controlled by a management group and by Fondo Synergo.
