Meetings held by Secretary General Valensise in Tashkent on 2 November focused on stronger bilateral relations between Italy and Uzbekistan.
His meeting with Uzbeki Foreign Minister Kamilov, which followed upon the latter’s encounter with Minister Gentiloni in September in New York, concentrated on intensification of political dialogue, strengthened cooperation, training initiatives and increased trade.Valensise also discussed these themes with Deputy Foreign Minister Khakhimov and Minister for Economic Relations Abroad Ganiev, with a special focus on the energy and agriculture sectors. Together they analysed the conditions for promoting Italian investments in Uzbekistan and intensifying bilateral trade.Valensise also joined Deputy Prime Minister Rozukulov on a visit to the campus that hosts a branch of the Turin Polytechnic Institute, where Italian professors are engaged in the formation of 800 Uzbeki engineers.
