‘WOMEN’S OPTION”

Among the new options for a flexible labour market exit, the 2017 Budget Law has introduced the so-called Women’s Option. It is an opportunity for an early right to retirement for women compared to the normal old-age pension schemes, as long as women have reached some minimum requirements that have been extended in the new norms. Women applying for this benefit should know, however, they will suffer a slight penalisation on the monthly cheque, and shall choose their severance pay only in accordance with the regulations of the contributory system. This benefit applies to women workers who have paid a seniority contribution, by 31 December 2015, equal to or higher than 35 years and an age of 57 for employees, and 58 for the self-employed. Women living abroad who fulfill the requirements (adding the working years in Italy to the ones worked in the foreign country which has an agreement with Italy) may also apply for early retirement.Further information can be found on the INPS website  (https://www.inps.it/NuovoportaleINPS/default.aspx?itemdir=50300&lang=IT), which lists in detail the requirements and the terms for the application.
