“Relations between Italy and Qatar are excellent in every field. Our political dialogue has grown stronger following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, which took place during my recent visit to Doha. We have a strong and solid economic partnership. I am certain that there is still room to enhance it,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, during their meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the MED-Dialogues event currently underway in Rome. “We are proud that Italian enterprises contribute to the building of important infrastructure, with a view to implementing the Qatar National Vision 2030. I am also convinced that Italy and Qatar can create a partnership to promote common investments, based on the transfer of Italian know-how and technology as well as on the financial solutions Qatar provides,” added the minister. He went on to say he was “pleased about the interest Qatar has shown for Italy and the investment opportunities it offers.”

Alfano and al-Thani also discussed the main issues on the international agenda, with special attention to the crises in Libya and Syria, as well as to the tensions in the Gulf area and the developments in Lebanon.
