Casa Artusi and rolled pastry in Manila for Cuisine Week

The initiative organised by the Italian Embassy in Manila for the Week of Italian Cuisine focused on Casa Artusi and its chef Carla Brigliadori. Carla held a series of master classes called “rolled pastry of the past”, aimed especially at local cooks and restaurant owners, but also others from outside Manila.

A reception was held for 350 people at the residence of Ambassador Giorgio Guglielmino, with a menu based on the simplicity and quality of the Mediterranean diet and its traditional cuisine.  The promotion was for “pizza, pasta and piadinas” accompanied by a presentation of the Italian beer, Menabrea. The beer was recently launched in the Philippines by “Bacchus”, an import company specialising in Italian products.

Filipono chef, Margarita Fores, was awarded the Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia (Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy) at the reception in honour of her promotion of typically Italian cuisine and products.  Margarita Fores was named Asia’s best female chef in 2016. She is a tireless promoter of Italian cuisine in her Cibo chain of 13 restaurants in Manila.
