In Kazakhstan, the initiatives for the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, offered by the Embassy of Italy in Nur-Sultan, were divided into four main themes: the ingredient; the recipe; the diet; and the table. The opening conference, entitled “Food for Earth. A sustainable and regenerative model of agriculture: from inspiration to action” was organised with the Future Food Institute of Bologna and the Agrotechnical University of Nur-Sultan. It was followed by the seminar “A healthy eating style for children – the Mediterranean Diet” with the participation of the Future Food Institute and the University Medical Center of Nur-Sultan.
A thematic dinner “A taste of Italy” was then held at the residence of the Ambassador of Italy in Kazakhstan, Marco Alberti, while at the Mökki Restaurant in Nur-Sultan a “Dante at the table” dinner was served, with recipes inspired by the medieval culinary tradition. A master class with four chefs was then held at the Adagio restaurant whilst the St. Regis Astana Hotel hosted a presentation of the book “Sapori e profumi della Cucina Italiana” [“Flavours and fragrances of Italian cuisine”] published by the Italian Foreign Trade office in Almaty. There was no lack of tastings of wine and typical Italian products.
