To celebrate the fourth edition of the Italian Cuisine Week, the Italian Consulate in Karachi invited Italian Chef Vittorio Castellani – a.k.a. Chef Kumalé – whose participation was sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of Islamabad and the Municipality of Karachi to promote better knowledge of the culinary and cultural traditions of Pakistan, enabling the Italian guest to acquire an in-depth knowledge of local culinary traditions by also offering him a brief stay in the city of Lahore (Punjab province).
During his stay, the Italian Chef held an Italian cookery workshop at which Pakistani journalists and food bloggers attended a cooking show and were shown the Italian specialities available on the local market. The Italian chef had a very dense agenda also on the following days, with a masterclass for cookery students and numerous meetings with Italian and local professionals aimed at tightening commercial relations in the catering, tourism and agribusiness sectors.
This is but the beginning of what promises to be a better and closer cooperation between Pakistan and Italy in the sign of fine eating and the Mediterranean Diet: a promising dialogue between the two Countries to which, through the contribution based on the experience of Chef Kumalé in Pakistan, the Gambero Rosso magazine will dedicate a report in one of their next issues.
