Press release detail

Minister for Foreign Affairs Giulio Terzi spoke by telephone this morning with his Nigerian colleague Olugbenga Ashiru, to express his deep thanks for the Nigerian authorities’ collaboration on resolving the kidnapping of Italian national Modesto Di Girolamo. For his part, and in the name of Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, Minister Ashiru congratulated Terzi on the affair’s positive outcome. The two ministers also exchanged views on the need for the international community to intensify collaboration at all levels, referring, that regard, to the role of the Global Counter Terrorism Forum, a US-launched initiative with the goal of a new and more effective architecture for counter-terrorism cooperation, of which Nigeria is a member. The next meeting of the Forum, which Minister Terzi will be attending, is to be held on 7 June in Istanbul.
