Minister for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini condemned this morning’s attacks on the parliament building in Mogadishu.
“Once again terrorist attacks are being used by those seeking to destabilise and weaken Somalia”, Mogherini said. “I wish to extend my own and the Italian government’s solidarity with the Somali authorities and the families of the victims”, she said, adding that “we have strong ties with the Horn of Africa, and Somalia in particular, which we intend to strengthen by reopening the Italian embassy in Mogadishu”.
