Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Benedetto Della Vedova visited Ashgabat, Turkmenistan yesterday to attend the conference “Policy of neutrality: International cooperation for the sake of peace, safety and development”, held on the 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s declaration of permanent neutrality. In the margins of the conference, he held bilateral meetings with Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov and Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Yagshigeldi Kakaev. Their discussions centred on strengthening bilateral relations in the areas of trade, energy and regional security.
The under-secretary also met with Ministers for Foreign Affairs of Timor Est Hernâni Coelho da Silva and of Bahrain Sheikh Khaled, with whom he confronted bilateral themes and collaboration within the framework of multilateral organisations.
