Today at the Farnesina Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs Benedetto Della Vedova received India’s Minister of Food Processing Industries, Ms Harsimrat Kaur Badal. The meeting aimed to ratify, the Undersecretary said, “the relaunching of economic, trade and industrial cooperation between the two Countries” following the meeting of 4 September with Indian Foreign Minister, Sushma Swaraj. After the meeting, Minister Badal and Undersecretary Della Vedova met with some representatives of leading Italian associations and corporations in the food processing sector. Minister Badal illustrated the opportunities and facilities offered by India in order to attract foreign direct investment and technologies in the agro-food industry, placing special focus on the 100% liberalisation of foreign direct investment for agricultural products processed in India and on the plan to build 42 new agro food parks.
“The sector’s Italian associations and corporations, following up on the already excellent performance of exports of Italian food processing machinery to India, have expressed great interest in exploring the business and industrial cooperation opportunities opened with the resumption of cooperation between Italy and India in several areas, including scientific and technological exchanges,” said Undersecretary Della Vedova.
