NATO South Hub opens in Naples

“The NATO South Hub held an opening ceremony today at the Joint Force Command in Naples. It marks a change of pace in the focus of the Alliance on new non-conventional and asymmetric security challenges which regard the Southern shore,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, during the ceremony of the new centre.”The Hub, which Italy has strongly wanted and located in the heart of the Mediterranean, will act at different levels and become the reference point from which the Alliance will be able to enhance stability in the South, especially through defence capacity building initiatives in favour of its Partner Countries,” added the Minister.”It is an important step forward towards a dynamic and modern NATO, capable of adjusting to new challenges and guaranteeing 360-degree security, complementing and mutually reinforcing the relaunching of the European defence,” the minister concluded.
