The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, expresses satisfaction for today’s election of Rosario Salvatore Aitala as judge of the International Criminal Court for the years 2018-2027, at the 16th Session of the Assembly of the States Parties to the Court in New York.
“This result, which is the outcome of a particularly competitive election, rewards the unquestioned qualities of the Italian candidate and confirms the recognition that he enjoys, as well as our Country’s strong commitment in favour of the International Criminal Court. The success of Rosario Aitala is also a result made possible by the irreplaceable action of Italian diplomacy,” said Minister Alfano. He added: “His election will assure continuity to the Italian presence in the International Criminal Court, which has been uninterrupted since the Court was established in 2003.”
