The Consulate of Italy in Miami, together with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, is actively engaged in the case of another Italian national detained by local U.S. authorities on 12 July in Miramar (Broward County), and currently held under a temporary custodial measure at the “Alligator Alcatraz” facility in Florida.
Consular officials—who are in contact with the individual’s family—immediately verified the circumstances of the detention, involving the Miami Office of the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Foreign Missions (OFM), and have obtained information regarding the potential for a swift repatriation, which could take place in the coming days.
