The Consulate General of Italy in Miami and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are following the case of another Italian national detained at the “Alligator Alcatraz” detention center (recently renamed the Florida Soft Side South Center) following his arrest on 16 September, as part of criminal proceedings initiated against him on 16 April, 2025.
Consular officials, in close contact with the family, have been able to contact the Italian national in recent days. The Consulate has also contacted ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) officials, who have informed of the Italian national’s imminent transfer to the Bakersfield detention center, California.
