Travel Advisory Update for the Gulf Region

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its Crisis Unit, has updated its travel advisory for the entire Gulf region in light of the ongoing instability.

In particular, Italian nationals planning to travel to or transit through the region are advised to reconsider any non-essential journeys and to take into account the possibility of changes to travel schedules. Those already present in the area and intending to remain are strongly advised to follow the guidance of local authorities and to consider the departure of vulnerable individuals or those in difficulty.

Travel advisories have also been updated for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar.

For the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, travellers are advised to postpone non-essential travel, including transit flights to other destinations.

For Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Oman, it is recommended to carefully assess the necessity of travelling to or through these countries in light of the current situation.

In Bahrain and Kuwait, airspace remains closed.

All travel to Iraq continues to be strongly discouraged for any purpose.

Italian nationals travelling abroad are reminded to register on the “Dove Siamo nel Mondo” website and to download the “Viaggiare Sicuri” app in order to receive real-time updates.
