The Farnesina Collection has been enriched with a new project: “Diary of Ornament”, by the famous street artist Agostino Iacurci.
It consists of a series of paintings inspired by the urban landscape of Brooklyn, where Iacurci has lived: details that he photographed and collected during his journey from home to the studio, later reproduced as paintings on paper, once for each day, as though he were creating a travel diary to record the urban space of Brooklyn and the multiplicity of its inhabitants.
Iacurci captures the decorative motifs of the metal gates that adorn the buildings, interpreting them as graphical patterns in a language that is made up from extensive fields of colours, transferring a fairytale-like and playful atmosphere on to urban walls.
Winner of the New York Prize and the Cantica21 competition, Iacurci has created murals and installations in numerous cities around the world such as Las Vegas, London, New Delhi, and Belo Horizonte.
