The October issue, and the next four issues of “Il Giornale dell’Arte” – a historic Italian magazine associated with the world of art and culture – feature five thematic chapters to the Farnesina Collection, written by renowned art historians and historians, offering an unprecedented account of the contemporary art collection of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The five in-depth reports will address a number of themes and topics that involve the whole collection, which currently features over 600 works by 359 Italian artists, from the early 20th century to the present day, encompassing all languages and ranging from paintings to sculpture, photography to installations, illustration and street art.

From the theme of Alphabets to the theme of the Journey, from Landscapes to the Body, passing through Time, History and Memory, this historical and critical narration wants to find new meanings while fostering dialogues and generational, visual and aesthetic debates, including unusual ones, about the works and authors of the Collection.

In the first chapter, now available online too, Francesco Tedeschi, lecturer in History of Contemporary Art at the Catholic University of Milan, addresses the theme of signs and relevant evolution, to be seen in the works of Carla Accardi, Tomaso Binga, Renata Boero, Giorgio Griffa, Sabrina D’Alessandro and Gianpaolo Pagni.
