From 22 to 28 November, in Morocco, the sixth “Week of Italian Cuisine in the World” will be dedicated to the theme of “Tradition and perspectives of Italian cuisine: the awareness and enhanced appreciation of food sustainability” with a rich programme of cultural and trade promotion initiatives throughout the country, promoted by the Italian Embassy in Rabat in coordination with Italian institutions in the area, in particular the Consulate General of Italy in Casablanca, the ICE-Italian Agency for the Promotion of Foreign Trade, the Italian Institute of Culture, and the Casablanca Committee of the Dante Alighieri Society.
From 15 to 19 November the Italian Cultural Institute in Rabat is offering “Aspettando la Settimana della Cucina: Il Cinema è servito” [“Waiting for the Week of Italian Cuisine: the Cinema is served”], a programme of 5 films with Italian food and culinary traditions as their central theme or that were inspired by it. The inauguration of the Week of Italian Cuisine, organised by the Embassy, will follow on 22 November at the Ambassador’s Residence.
These initiatives will continue throughout the week: ICE Casablanca is organising “Portes ouvertes” where the public will be able to buy Italian products from importers/distributors in Morocco; the Italian Institute of Culture is presenting a series of meetings and masterclasses in collaboration with ISTAHT (Institut Spécialisé de Technologie Appliquée Hôtelière et Touristique) in Mohammédia; on 25 November, the Dante Alighieri Society of Casablanca is presenting a lecture by the nutritionist Dr. Valeria Alighieri on the beneficial effects of Mediterranean cuisine, followed by a tasting session; and on 26 November, again at the Consulate General in Casablanca, ICE will be holding an exhibition and tasting session of Italian gastronomic products.
Finally, for the occasion and throughout the week, the “Sesame” restaurant of the Royal Mansour hotel in Marrakech will be offering a menu dedicated to the event.
