The Consulate General of Italy in Vancouver, along with the local branch of the Italian Chamber of Commerce, has organised a webinar entitled “Food security on Earth: lessons from food production systems in space”. The webinar is one of the events marking the 6th Italian Design Day.
The speaker is the architect and engineer Valentina Sumini, who will be presenting the “Food solution for space”, a food production strategy conceived in collaboration with COESIA S.p.A., a group specialising in packaging, and pasta producers Pastificio RANA S.p.A.
The need to use available space, water and other elements efficiently to produce food could encourage the implementation of technologies with a lower impact on the resources needed for food production on Earth too, especially in regions where such resources are scarce.
