The Italian Embassy in Algeria and the Italian Cultural Institute of Algiers, in collaboration with the Algerian Ministry of Culture and Arts, present the Algerian leg of the exhibition “Mediterranea – Visions of an ancient and complex sea”, as promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in collaboration with the Italian Space Agency, Telespazio/e-GEOS of the Leonardo Group, Fondazione MedOr and the European Space Agency. The initiative is part of the activities to promote the Italian economic system and combines nature, culture, art, innovation, technology and sustainability in an integrated manner.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 7 September to 7 October at the Palais de la Culture Moufdi Zakaria in Algiers, the country’s prestigious exhibition building and the ideal stage for the initiative.

The exhibition, curated by Viviana Panaccia, makes use of images obtained from the most advanced space technology made available and, in some cases, processed exclusively for the project by the Italian and European Space Agencies and Telespazio/e-Geos. It recounts the Mediterranean of today and yesterday, its history, its beauty, its peoples, its myths. The exhibition, which features images acquired by the satellites of the Italian COSMO-SkyMed system, as well as those of the satellites of the European Copernicus system, offers evocative images of the Mediterranean and is structured around three themes: History of lands and waters, peoples and cultures, Vegetation and scents, and the Mediterranean today.
