Environment – Cooperation and the Red Sea

The shores of the Red Sea are an uncontaminated wealth of marine life and Italy is committed to conserving that natural patrimony through support for the Egyptian Debt Conversion Programme and the activities of the Egyptian NGO HEPCA.

The initiative aims to promote the socio-economic development of the marine area and the coastline, in synergy with the conservation of its extraordinary natural resources, through efforts at strengthening local skills and generating income-producing activities associated with eco-sustainable tourism.

Environment: a sustainable constant

The Italian Development Cooperation has long been involved in the sector of environmental protection and has ensured its constant and qualified support to the Egyptian Ministry of the Environment in endeavours of that nature, from the management of protected areas to sustainable agricultural and tourism projects, environmental legislation, water resources and solid waste management, concentrating on safeguarding biodiversity and creating protected areas.
