11th Meeting of Italian institution representatives in Brazil

Sao Paulo hosted the 11th Meeting of the Italian institutions (Embassy, Consular Network, Italian Institutes of Culture – IICs, Bank of Italy, Chambers of Commerce) operating in Brazil, the largest Latin American country.

Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Vincenzo Amendola, attended the meeting, which saw the participation of members of the General Council of Italians abroad and the parliamentarians elected in Brazil, Comites presidents and an ample representation of the very large honorary consular network (over 100 offices). The meeting offered an outline of the working of the Italian consular structures to promote the sharing of best practices and solutions for a network, which is improving its services despite a contraction of resources: in 2016, there were 480,000 individuals registered with (A.I.R.E.), the Registry of Italians Resident Abroad; nearly 12,000 ius-sanguinis citizenships were granted and over 21,000 passports were issued. The guidelines of the cultural and economic projection were discussed, also in view of the upcoming entrepreneurial mission, scheduled to take place on November 23-25, 2016.
