Italian ice cream showcased in Colombia

Italian ice cream chefs are in Colombia for the Week of Italian Cuisine, proposing daring combinations with typical Italian dishes, as at the gala dinner at Bogota’s Club Metropolitan, where squash risotto was complemented with Parmigiano ice cream. The Sicilian Stramondo company, a leader in the production of organic agri-food products, supplied the raw materials for the ice cream. Then, with a view to promoting the designations of origin and protected geographical indications, the delegation of ice cream chefs held a training workshop for 30 professionals to show them how to use Colombian cocoa mass in the production of ice cream. The programme of the Week of Italian Cuisine, now at its third edition, spread out to the Country’s largest cities and, in coordination with the Honorary Consulates, planned the launch of a digital platform aimed at presenting the many initiatives promoting Brand Italy in Colombia and advertising Italian products while combating the “Italian-sounding” phenomenon. Moreover, throughout the whole Week, 22 pizza parlours in the principal Colombian cities proposed 4 traditional Italian recipes at a special price. Bogota’s two recognised private schools organised entertainment and educational activities on pizza with the students of different courses. Lastly, with a view to promoting the Italian Lifestyle, an aperitif was organised at the “Boho Food Market”, a restaurant created on the model of “Eataly” and with a large staff of Italian chefs, that was recently opened in Bogota.
