“This cowardly act of violence merits the strongest possible condemnation”. This was the comment by Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi, who expressed his “deepest condolences” for the victims, on today’s deadly attack in the Ashafriyeh neighbourhood of Beirut.
“This was a brutal and unacceptable act of terrorism designed to undermine national cohesion in Lebanon. Those responsible must be pursued with determination and brought to justice”.
“Italy wishes to express its fullest solidarity with the Lebanese Government”, continued Minister Terzi, “and will continue in its firm commitment to protect both the independence, unity and democracy of Lebanon, and its stability and security”.
