Alfano: “condolences and consternation for the attack on members of the International Red Cross in Afghanistan”

“We wish to express out profound grief for the vile killings of six members of the International Red Cross Committee, and our consternation for the fate of the two members still missing. Italy reiterates its firm condenmation of any form of violence.” These are the words expressed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Angelino Alfano upon receiving news of the attack, which occurred today in the province of Jawzjan, in Afghanistan. Minister Alfano expressed his sympathy to the executives of the Red Cross offices in Geneva. He also confirmed Italy’s appreciation and support for the humanitarian activities the members of the Red Cross carry out in Afghanistan and in all conflict zones.
