Alfano: “Humanitarian flight carrying 12 tons of relief supplies is about to take off for Suleymania”
“We have organized, through the Italian Development Cooperation service, an emergency aid shipment to assist the victims of the powerful earthquake that struck Iraq and Iran last night,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Communication, Angelino Alfano.

“A humanitarian flight of the Italian Development Cooperation service, carrying 12 tons of relief supplies for the stricken population, will soon take off from the UNHRD base in Brindisi, managed by the World Food Programme (WFP), in order to reach Suleymania in Iraq. Tents, blankets and other relief supplies, such as hygiene kits and cooking equipment, will be delivered to the affected population.
The minister added: “We are also considering giving a financial contribution through the multilateral channel to Iran. The contribution will be allocated to the Iranian Red Crescent, which is engaged in providing relief to the population.”
