“We welcome the upcoming mission to Cairo by the magistrates from the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Rome and the progress made in the investigations. We have learned that the pictures long requested by the top officials of the court in Rome will become available.
The presence of our ambassador has contributed to the good results we have achieved, and I am sure that we will make headway to get to the bottom of Giulio Regeni’s tragic death. New details will soon be forthcoming thanks to our determination in keeping our commitment and attention focused on the Regeni case, which the presence of ambassador Cantini guarantees. It happens when the State acts in a coordinated fashion, as we have made sure that this happened”.
Foreign Minister Angelino Alfano had a telephone conversation with the Public Prosecutor in Rome, Giuseppe Pignatone, about the Regeni case, and reported on it during the cabinet meeting which just ended.
