Afghanistan-U.S. Joint Statement for Peace and the settlement between the U.S. and the Taliban

Italy welcomes the conclusion of the Afghanistan-U.S. Joint Statement for Peace and the settlement between the U.S. and the Taliban, consistent with our belief that there can be no military solution to the Afghan conflict. It is our hope that inclusive intra-Afghan negotiations will start soon paving the way for lasting peace and security in the country, which can only be sustainable if shaped and accepted by all Afghans and anchored in the communities across the country.
