The first of March is ASEM Day, a platform of increasing importance for the promotion of dialogue and cooperation between Europe and Asia. In this forum, Italy is strongly committed to promoting one of the cornerstones of its foreign policy: support for effective and rule-based multilateralism.
Thanks to its informality and flexibility, ASEM represents a particularly suitable format for the creation of consensus among the 53 partners of the organization.
After hosting the ASEM Summit in Milan in 2014, Italy’s action is based on three guidelines: the development of dialogue between Europe and Asia; the strengthening of the role and rights of women in society; and the fight against climate change.
