The third Italian Sports Day Around the World will open today at the Foreign Ministry at 6.30 pm. This year’s edition, entitled ‘Italy: Land of Enterprises, Sea of Excellence’, focuses on the theme of the sea, water sports and related production sectors, in conjunction with the America’s Cup to be held in Naples in 2027. The event will bring together representatives from institutions, sports federations, athletes, companies and local authorities to promote sport as a tool for diplomacy, international promotion and the internationalisation of the Italian economy.
At the start of the ceremony, Minister Tajani will appoint the new Ambassadors for Sports Diplomacy, including Italian athletes from various disciplines, Luna Rossa (represented by CEO Max Sirena) and the women’s Paralympic sitting volleyball team. The athletes appointed will be Sara Curtis (swimming), Chiara Pellacani (diving), Dariya Derkach (triple jump), Arianna Bridi (open-water swimming), Simone Barlaam (Paralympic swimming), Caterina Banti (sailing), Antonio Squizzato (Paralympic sailing), Alessandra Sensini (windsurfing), Massimiliano Rosolino (swimming) and Marta Maggetti (windsurfing).
