Collezione Farnesina: nuovo ingresso per “A Lecture on Martian History” di Cannavacciuolo

Allow us to welcome into the Farnesina Collection “A Lecture on Martian History” (2021) by Maurizio Cannavacciuolo. The artwork, in polychrome ceramic panels, has a total surface area of 15 metres, was made in collaboration with the Faenza-based ‘Ceramica Gatti 1928’ and installed in the entrance hall of the Farnesina.

The artist has created a site-specific version of one of his most important works, which was exhibited on the façade of Boston’s Isabella Stewart-Gardner Museum, and that was drawn from the fantasy tale of the colonization of the Earth by the Martians. With his usual irony and eclecticism, the artist portrays a professor – a hybrid between a human and Martian – while presenting some scenes of post-invasion life on Earth.
