On the occasion of the ceremony commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Messina-Taormina Conference (1955), held at Palazzo Zanca (the seat of the Municipality of Messina) on 18 June, the Historical-Diplomatic Archives of the Foreign Ministry, in collaboration with the European University Institute of Fiesole, organized a commemorative exhibition entitled “70 years since the Messina Conference: its legacy for today’s Europe”.
Besides retracing the main stages of the history of European integration, also through original photographs of the 1955 Conference, the exhibition illustrated some relevant current aspects for the Union, including for example the prospects for enlargement and the challenges posed by Next Generation EU, the ecological transition, and common defence. All this within 12 panels with double-sided Italian and English text, set up inside Palazzo Zanca, the same venue as the 1955 Conference.
