The work of the “National and International Working Group for the Promotion of Popular and Amateur Music”, established at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, continues. On 29 September, the Group held its fifth deliberative meeting.
At the centre of discussions was the announcement of a new collaboration with RAI to promote the “Comuni delle Radici”, local communities distinguished by musical ensembles rooted in their territories.
An update was also provided on the legislative process of the bill submitted to the Chamber of Deputies last January, aimed at safeguarding bands, choirs and folk groups.
Further news concerned music competitions: following the success of the initiative dedicated to bands – which awarded the Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels, where in December the Fanfara dei Bersaglieri di Ladispoli “Gennaretti-Lalli” will perform – a new call was announced to foster collaboration between Italian Cultural Institutes and Conservatories, with the goal of spreading Italian music worldwide.
Lastly, with over one hundred entries received, the selection rounds for the “Competition for the Enhancement of Popular and Amateur Music”, launched last March, will shortly begin. The selections will be held in one Conservatory per region. Through these initiatives, the Ministry reaffirms its commitment to Italian musical art and, more broadly, to the entire music sector, within the framework of “growth diplomacy”.
