Ankara: Italy-Turkey Innovation Day

Ankara hosted the first “Italy-Turkey Innovation Day”, organised by the Italian Embassy in conjunction with Tubitak, the Turkish research agency.

The initiative was addressed to the R&D managers  of some of the most important Italian enterprises operating in Turkey, who shared their experiences in the field of technological innovation. The conference was also an opportunity to present some instances of start-ups established as part of the Teknopark of the Middle East Technical University (METU). One of the panels focused on scientific research and ongoing projects carried out by universities and research agencies of both countries, which involved ASI, CNR and TUBITAK researchers.

The Italian Ambassador in Turkey, Massimo Gaiani, opened the conference underlining that “scientific  and technological innovation represents a field in which bilateral cooperation should be enhanced as a partnership effort. The first ” Italy-Turkey Innovation Day” is meant to present and promote Italian excellence in research, thus providing both countries with an opportunity for their front-line enterprises to meet and cooperate.” The event was also attended by Turkey’s Deputy Minister for Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih Kacir, and the chairman of TUBITAK, Hasan Mandal.
