The Made in Italy Day was celebrated with the screening of the film “Enrico Piaggio – An Italian Dream”, produced by RAI. The film recounts the inspiring entrepreneurial journey that led the Pontedera-based company to rise from the ruins of the Second World War by creating the Vespa – a vehicle that revolutionised personal mobility and achieved worldwide success in just a few years.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Fabio Messineo highlighted how this story is emblematic of the development of Made in Italy during the post-war reconstruction period, and more broadly of the remarkable ability of Italian entrepreneurship to create innovative ideas and elegant, useful products that go on to become icons of design.

The audience at La Paz’s Cinemateca Boliviana responded enthusiastically to the event, which gave students from the local branch of the Dante Alighieri Society the opportunity to watch their first film of the year in the original Italian version. Following the screening, they were able to engage in discussion with members of the local Italian community, while enjoying Nutella crêpes – another of Italy’s most iconic global brands.
