Italian Cuisine Week: Recife holds a masterclass on cooking and an event to promote Italian cocktails

For the first time, the Italian Cuisine Week in the World was also held in North-East Brazil, placing the focus on food education and training and on the promotion of the typical products available in major distribution chains.

The agenda was greatly appreciated by the participants and scheduled two masterclasses and an event to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Negroni cocktail, accompanied by the offer of a special menu with the event’s promotional logo for the city’s restaurants. 

The two masterclasses, one on the preparation of potato ‘gnocchi’ held by Milanese chef Paolo Cacitti, and the other on Neapolitan pizza, held by Naples-born pizza chef Massimiliano Serino, were fully booked-up and received an enthusiastic participation from a varied audience including Italy-lovers and cooking students.

For the 100th anniversary of the Negroni cocktail, taking advantage of the presence in Recife of the largest Campari production plant in Latin America, an event was organised on the theme of cocktails at the Cabanga Yacht Club in Recife, which was attended by almost 200 guests among which local Authorities, including the Mayor of Recife, entrepreneurs, journalists and members of the local community. Bartender Francesco Carretta prepared the most popular cocktails made with Aperol and Campari (Spritz and Negroni) with the aim of promoting the ‘Aperitivo’, based on bitter drinks that stimulate digestion, small portions and high-quality ingredients. as an integral part of healthy living typical of the Italian way of life.
