COUNTRY SYSTEM – How Italy compares with emerging countries at the ASILS conference

How Italy compares with emerging economies, particularly Brazil, Russia, China and Turkey, will be the central theme of the annual conference of ASILS, an association of private Italian schools for foreigners that attract over 22,000 persons to our country every year.

Report on the study of the Italian language

The conference is to be held on 25 May in Rome at the Office for Italy of the European Parliament, where the Florence Centre for Tourism Studies’ latest report on the study of the Italian language by foreigners in Italy will be presented. The report describes the average student in terms of age, gender, country of origin and the Italian regions most likely to host them, and will be used to generate a discussion on the role of the Italian language as an instrument for intercultural dialogue, development and economic growth. This year the analysis will concentrate on emerging economies such as Brazil, Russia, China and Turkey, representatives of whose embassies in Italy will be present.
