The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has launched the idea of celebrating the Italian Design Day across the world, on 2 March of every year, through the network of Embassies, Consulates and Italian Cultural Institutes. To this end, the Foreign Ministry has set up at the Farnesina a Scientific Committee composed by the Triennale di Milano, Universities, Research Centres, and public and private Academies operating in this sector, with the task of selecting the “Ambassadors of Italian Design” in the world.
The Italian designer chosen for Malta is Giangi Razeto, the head of the Innovation and Design Office of Fratelli Razeto e Casareto SpA. The historic Genoa-based company is known around the world for designing and producing ship-building accessories since 1920 with a very broad range of products both for liners and for modern-day cruisers. In addition, it designs and produces highly specialised items for leisure boats which are greatly appreciated and on demand among important ship builders. Their multi-function flush-fitting replaceable handle has won them numerous awards (including: the ADI Design Index 2012; the ADI nautical design award 2012; Dame 2013; BIG Innovation Award 2014; Adex Award 2014; and the ADI nautical design award 2015).
