The programme of celebrations for the centenary of the birth of the great Italian director and artist Federico Fellini, coordinated by the Italian Embassy in Zagreb, has begun in Croatia and will run throughout 2020 with initiatives in various locations in Croatia. The first of the events was an initiative organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in partnership with the Motovun Film Festival that took place on Saturday, January 18. The event covered not only Fellini’s famous film production but also other aspects of his overall artistic output, according to an innovative formula that involved the participants interactively.
The programme of the event, held at the Lauba Gallery in Zagreb, included a quiz on Fellini’s work, conceived and conducted by Morana Zibar, a well-known face of Croatian television; the installation of the exhibition “Fellini and Food”, consisting of 19 drawings, mostly sketches, made at table on paper or napkins by the director and included in the author’s Book of Dreams; a musical performance by the multi-instrumentalist Soundtrack Ensemble on the most famous pieces of Fellini’s cinematography; the screening of Amarcord followed by the Dolce Vita Party with tasting of Italian wines.
The activities immediately continued, on January 20, with a round table in Fiume, entitled “The Year of Federico Fellini” in which experts in communication, sociology and film critics took part.
