“I had a very cordial and fruitful meeting with my German counterpart. As evidence of the extremely close relationship between Italy and Germany, he wanted to include Rome among his first visits abroad during his mandate. Our two countries share excellent bilateral relationships – as the 120-billion-euro worth trade volumes demonstrate – and a close cooperation at both European and international level. Today, we talked about the European Union, migration issues and the most important international dossiers, like Syria, Turkey and Ukraine, which Italy is also paying close attention to given the responsibilities we have due to our presidency of the OSCE”.
The Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, said this at the end of the meeting he had today with his German counterpart, Heiko Maas, at the Farnesina.
