The Council of Delegates of the Italian-Latin American Institute (IILA), an organisation founded in 1966 embracing all Latin American countries and Italy, has proclaimed with a unanimous vote the appointment of former Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Donato di Santo as incoming Secretary General of the Institute. The appointment of the Italian candidate, proposed by Minister Gentiloni, was acknowledged and appreciated by all member countries of the organisation, due to his extensive experience in Latin America. The move underlines the Italian government’s desire to enhance the role of the Institute as an invaluable facilitator of cooperation between Italy and Latin America.
