From 1st January the value of Venezuelan pensions received by Italian pensioners will be calculated in euros at the free-floating Dicom exchange rate, that is more in line with actual market values compared to the fixed Dipro exchange rate. Starting from the first payment in 2017 – as confirmed by INPS to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation – the approximately 3600 Italians residing in Venezuela entitled to a pension under the international agreement will receive a supplement to their pension to face the sky-rocketing prices in the South American Country. “This important decision, that was reached thanks to the relentless engagement of the Farnesina, will contribute to mitigating the difficult situation of our compatriots in Venezuela”, said Mr Angelino Alfano, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. “Thanks are due also to the Minister of Labour and Social Policies, to the Minister of the Economy and Finance and to INPS, for having accepted our proposals”, concluded Mr Alfano.
