The Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation / AICS and the Italian Footballers Association/ AIC, has been signed today in the presence of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Elisabetta Belloni, and the 2006 World Football Champions Simone Perrotta and Gianluca Zambrotta.
The Memorandum promotes the principles and values of sport, especially football, in the initiatives financed by the Italian Cooperation, through training activities for the coaches of partner countries. The training model underlying the activities that will be promoted is focused on the child and his psychophysical growth, in order to foster a socio-cultural dimension based on dialogue, integration and social inclusion.
The agreement has been signed by Giorgio Marrapodi, Director General for Development Cooperation, Luca Maestripieri, Director of AICS, Damiano Tommasi, President of AIC, and Giampaolo Silvestri, Secretary General of AVSI (technical partner of the initiative).
The first joint activity will take place next week in Jordan: in Aqaba Simone Perrotta, Gianluca Zambrotta and the AIC coaches will train the coaches from the refugee camps, involving local children in sports activities.
